Hey, this is Greg Appelhof, CEO of AirSelfie Inc.

I want to start off by thanking all of our 13,737 backers for helping us successfully raise $1.6 million on Indiegogo. Our goal with our Indiegogo campaign was to raise enough funds to perfect the sophisticated manufacturing necessary to build AIR PIX. We thought we had secured the best manufacturer in China to help us deliver an incredible product, but we were wrong.

As the original projected date for shipping neared, the AirSelfie quality control team inspected pre-production devices at the AirSelfie factories in China and discovered flaws in the airframe design that were not evident in prototyping and negatively impacted the performance of the aerial camera.

Redesign and retooling of the airframe and propeller system took several months to accomplish. Upon solving the design issue, more quality control testing discovered firmware glitches, wi-fi disconnects and other issues that led to erratic and inconsistent performance that was not aligned with the promises made in the Indiegogo campaign. The elimination of these issues and the disqualification of 2 factories due to out-of-spec defect rates led to further delays that pushed pre-production into late December.

Unfortunately, full scale production was not able to begin before the traditional multi-week Chinese New Year celebration. Only approximately 4,000 units were shipped to the Indiegogo backers before the COVID-19 virus forced the shutdown of all factories in the Guangdong province of China.

Due to this major setback we have decided to launch an equity crowdfunding campaign on wefunder.com. The money being raised on WeFunder will first go to production and shipment of all outstanding Indiegogo backer orders — approximately 12K units.

We’ll use the capital from the WeFunder campaign to continually produce and fulfill AIR PIX products to our Indiegogo backers. Based on projections from our factory partners, we fully expect that all backer orders will be fulfilled within 45 days of completing our equity crowdfunding campaign.

Today, you are the first we have notified of our SEC approved crowdfunding campaign that we plan to launch on Tuesday, April 28th. This means you will be the first to have an opportunity to own shares in our business.

Also, we plan to deliver a perk for early investors — a discount of 20% for the first $100K of investment (minimum $500) — through our WeFunder campaign.

Hello Backers. The whole world is aware of the seriousness of the Covid-19 virus and the dramatic measures being taken to slow its impact. Unfortunately, the tactics needed to be taken by the Chinese government to slow the Coronavirus severely impacted the production of AirSelfie AIR PIX devices over the past 2+ months. The good news is that manufacturing operations have now restarted. Although we are not even close to running at full capacity, we are producing AIR PIX again! Hello Indiegogo Backers.

The heartbreaking outbreak of the coronavirus that has spread across China and around the globe has unfortunately impacted the manufacturing of the remaining AIR PIX for our Indiegogo backers. The Chinese government has mandated that people in certain provinces should avoid travel and stay home. This proclamation effects millions of Chinese factory workers that traveled from factory locations to their home towns to celebrate Chinese New Year with their families.

The factories that manufacture AIR PIX are among the thousands of Chinese facilities that are doing their best to fill their staff vacancies. We are currently waiting for approval from Chinese authorities to restart to manufacture at our factories with a much smaller staff of local workers. Once we get that approval we will begin to assemble AIR PIX again, but unfortunately at a slower rate than when the factory was at full capacity.

It is impossible for us to estimate exact ship dates at this time due to all of the unknown variables, but we promise to keep you updated. We thank you for your patience and know that you join us in wishing the best for all those affected by this catastrophic event.

Hello Backers!

We’ve had several comments and questions about the 4,000+ shipments that have already gone out to Backers since December and we want to clarify the specifics to avoid any further confusion. 

Our factory produced Black AIR PIX first and we shipped to those backers who only ordered black.  The AIR PIX colors cannot be manufactured on the production line simultaneously with Black units.  Prior to the Chinese New Year factory closure, AIR PIX black and PIX color airframes (red, white & coral) were manufactured and will be assembled after the holiday.  Please note that orders cannot be changed to black as they are already locked with the factory.  AIR PIX Powerbanks have been received and will be bundled with these orders.  We are estimating shipments to streamline from February onwards and are committed to providing you with regular updates.

We are happy to announce that our support team has grown to help answer any questions or concerns that you may have.  We appreciate your patience and support as we strive to provide the best customer service while still on the limited resources of a start-up. Hello Backers!

AIR PIX shipments have been slower than expected due to several issues we have had in terms of a lag in the sourcing of quality components from different suppliers from December 2019 to the end of the Chinese New Year period.  AirSelfie also experienced some units that were held up in a few different territories customs offices and even several that were returned to sender.  Our Hong Kong distributor is logging those returns, inspecting the packages and reshipping via a new courier starting next week.

To date, we have delivered to over 4,000+ backers and we expect shipments to streamline from February onward.  We’ve received terrific feedback and comments from backers and are implementing some of them as we continually improve the AIR PIX flying experience.

AirSelfie had a successful showing at CES in Las Vegas last week where we won the Refinery 29s “Best of CES 2020” award. With thousands of visitors enthralled with AIR PIX demonstrations, AirSelfie was among the top 8% of most reached vendors at the show.
